Crawfish River Run – Half Day

Park your car at the downtown boat launch in Jefferson. We'll transport you 7 miles upstream and drop you off on the Crawfish River at the Highway B bridge. This is a beautiful run and a great way to experience old Wisconsin. About 1 mile down river park the canoe for a picnic or hike at the famous Aztalan State Park. Between 1000 and 1300 AD ancient Middle-Mississippian people are believed to have settled Aztalan where they built large, flat-topped pyramdial mounds and a stockade around their village. They hunted, fished and armed on the floodplain of the Crawfish River. This run is open 7 days a week and remains open as long as the water levels remain high enough.

Average run time is 2.5 - 3.5 hours without stopping and 3 - 4 hours if you stop at the park. Click Here to see where we'll drop you off at. Click here to see where to park and where we'll meet you at.

Bark River Run – Half Day

Park your car in downtown Fort Atkinson near the city’s boat ramp.  We’ll then transport you to the Burnt Village Park approximately 10 minutes away.  The Ho-Chunk Village dating from the 1700s once stood in the vicinity.  Just before the 1832 BlackHawk war, the village was burned during an intra-tribal conflict.  The US military camped at the site while in pursuit of the BlackHawk tribe and named the place Burnt Village.

This half-day run starts on the Bark River and is just over 6-miles and takes anywhere from 2.5 – 4 hours.  Paddlers have reported seeing bald eagles, beavers and an assortment of birds and wildlife.  Watch for carp-holding pens at an axbow as you approach the Rock River used for storing fish before shipping to Chicago. If you’re looking for solitude, this is the run for you! Click Here to see where we'll drop you off at. Click here to see where to park and where we'll meet you at.

Thinking about fishing on your trip?

Hunter, (6 years) caught this 28", 15lbs carp on the Rock River in Jefferson Oct. 2007.

The Rock and Bark River is full of catfish, sheep head, bass, carp, and walleye. Use some night crawlers, chicken liver or a jig for the best results. We don't recommend fishing from the boats if you’re new to canoeing or have small children on board.
